The X-Files actor David Duchovny let the cat out of the bag last month, but actor Mitch Pileggi has since confirmed he’s a go for the 6-episode revival of the venerable FOX series.
Pileggi will reprise his role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner on the show, which now has a January 24, 2016 premiere date.
“Very happy to announce that Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids,” he said via Twitter. “Very happy.”
The actor played the no-nonsense Colonel Steven Caldwell, commander of the Earth ship Daedalus, in a recurring role on Stargate Atlantis.
Also returning, alongside original series stars Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, is William B. Davis (who played an Ori Prior on Stargate SG-1) as the Cigarette Smoking Man. (Robert Patrick — Stargate Atlantis‘s Colonel Marshall Sumner — won’t be appearing.)

So excited for this reboot! Finally a show that understands that sometimes, the actors CAN'T be replaced.
