Making her much anticipated return to the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian this week is actress Ming-Na Wen. She plays the assassin Fennec Shand, who tangled with Mando when the character was introduced last season.
Her debut episode in 2019 was “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger.” After apparently being killed off she was revived in a post-credit scene last year, with many fans speculating about a connection to a character from the original Star Wars trilogy.
This season Ming-Na turns up in “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” written by executive producer Jon Favreau and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Based on the episode’s events (and no spoilers here), it’s likely we will see more of Fennec as Season 2 wraps up this month.
From 2009 to 2011 Ming-Na Wen played Camille Wray, a calculating representative of the I.O.A. on board Destiny, on Stargate Universe. Last year the actress also wrapped up a 7-season stint as Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
Another actor from the Stargate family has also appeared on The Mandalorian this year: Origins co-star Philip Alexander, who played an Imperial pilot in the third episode of the new season.
New episodes of The Mandalorian are streaming Fridays on the Disney+ streaming service.
