Lock your chevrons: Stargate SG-1 actor Gary Jones and our friends over at The Companion are teaming up to give fans a one-of-a-kind experience. “Gate Tech 101” is a roleplaying masterclass hosted by none other than Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman.
The live event takes place on Zoom Saturday, March 11 starting at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT, 7 p.m. GMT). Jones will host an in-character crash course in Stargate operations, and give fans a chance to ask questions both in and out of character. Cosplay skills are not required, but attendees are encouraged to get in on the fun by dressing up and taking on the persona of their own S.G.C. character.
Students who participate will receive a “Certified Gate Technician” patch and certificate of completion, as well as a private link to the event recording.
Gary Jones appeared on Stargate throughout the show’s entire 10-year run as the man behind the dialing computer, opening and closing the iris and calling out chevrons as the Stargate dialed.
His genre credits also include the likes of Sliders, Highlander, Painkiller Jane, Andromeda, Poltergeist: The Legacy, Sanctuary, Timeless, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Tickets for “Gate Tech 101” run $165 USD ($145 for Companion members) and are limited to just 28 participants. Head over to The Companion to learn more about this event, and purchase tickets here.

I wish there was someplace to get some of the control room graphics they used on the show. I’d love to have the IDLE screen for a screensaver.
I’ve got the Atlantis diagnostic screen as my wallpaper on my computer.
