Stargate: Timekeepers is almost here, and today fans of both Stargate and real-time tactics can try out the game with the release of a hands-on demo for PC. Publisher Slitherine Games also announced the game’s release date, along with a new trailer.
Part 1 of Timekeepers will include seven of the game’s 14 missions (or “episodes”), and release on December 12. Part 2 will arrive as a free update in the first quarter of 2024.
The news was announced today at Slitherine Games’ livestream celebration of Stargate, marking 29 years (as of this weekend) since the original feature film hit theaters. Guests on the livestream included SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks, director Martin Wood, Timekeepers writer Robert Brown, and yours truly — Stargate fan and GateWorld managing editor Darren Sumner.
The livestream included conversation and Q&As, and featured the premiere of a brand new teaser trailer for Stargate: Timekeepers. Take a look:
The opening cinematic sets up the game’s first mission, which will take place on the ground in the aftermath of the Battle of Antarctica (“Lost City”). Timekeepers‘ original story, featuring F-302 pilot Eva McCain and a brand new team, will take off from there.
Here’s how the publisher describes the story:
Stargate: Timekeepers departs from the end of season 7 of the Stargate SG-1 main plot to create an original story, unfolding over 14 narrative-rich missions. Your adventure starts during the Battle of Antarctica, where Commander Eva McCain and her team are supporting the SG-1 against Anubis’s fleet.
Sometime later, Eva and her team of specialists are tasked with a new mission in the Stargate universe: help the Jaffa Resistance, prevent brutal rituals, strike against Moloc’s army, and seek an alliance with the Unas.
Over the course of the game’s early missions players will unlock a full roster of (fully voice-acted) team members including Colonel Eva McCain, expert marksman Max Bolton, tech officer and spy Sam Watson (who uses a mimic device), and scientist and engineer Derreck Harper (who controls a set of drones). The team from Earth will also encounter the female Jaffa A’ta, and an Unas named Xugga.
Timekeepers is a real-time tactics game that will be available for PC. The pre-order price is $29.99 (U.S.) / £24.99 (U.K.).
Ready to start your mission? You have a go! Head to the Stargate: Timekeepers Steam page to check out the demo (2.5 GB) and pre-order the game. And stick with GateWorld for full coverage as the release date approaches.

Oof… Why did Michael Shanks involve himself with this …? I’m glad they released a demo so people can see this … before buying it. I swear it looks like it was made in 1994 a long side the movie 😂😂
Its not 4:3 aspect ratio though that games would have been :)
But, I suppose even at max, the graphics are 2003-2007-ish. Getting down there.
Played a few minutes of the demo so far. Did not actually expect to see a demo drop today despite what I said earlier this week lol.
What do you think of what you’ve seen? I installed it but haven’t gotten to it yet.
Its fairly decent if I were to say it in a way for those that really like RTS like gameplay. Similar is seen in old C&C games during character missions. So, it is much like an RTS game. But, its also like XCOM 2 or Homeworld games. Did play more up to the blinding part. But, realized at, and by that point, some frustrations I was having and didn’t want to play any further as I’m not *that* into this gameplay to deal with annoying stuff. Notably, kept clicking on the other character and it wouldn’t select the character until… Read more »
I had a blast. It was mostly a tutorial, but since it was similar to commandos series and Desperados III, I liked it a lot.
The demo is ok, I’ve pre-purchased Timekeepers to support Stargate!
Doh! Really, the SG leader is a female in an actual combat scenario? Maybe it would not have bothered me enough to mention it in the past but I am so burned out by all the recent Hollyweird woke garbage ( looking at you Disney). Just because it is stargate, I will likely buy it.
Clearly Stargate has never had any issue with women in command or in front-line combat roles throughout its history. I just looked this up for confirmation, and the real-world U.S. Air Force has had women in aerial combat roles since 1993. It would be off-putting to me if there were not women pilots at the Battle of Antarctica, or women at the rank of Colonel leading SG teams through the gate (as Samantha Carter did).
Not everything is woke. Some things are just simply reality. Maybe you need to wake up. Stop covering up your inner sexist by being anti-woke.
I’m a big Stargate fan would love to play it but i don’t have a PC that I could play it on so for me its a bummer wondering if they will make a console version for Xbox plz ty
I could actually see this being playable just fine on phones. If I were making this game, mobile would be happening too.
Played through the demo. It is only a tutorial mission, but I’m not impressed. Some movement issues that got me killed (stuck on a rock etc), a few bugs, one crash… There is not much depth during gameplay compared to other games in the genre. If the story doesn’t wow, it’ll be a middle-of-the-road game. Like a 5/10. Fingers crossed they prove me wrong. Will be buying tho, I mean it’s a Stargate game that’s getting released. Not many came this far.
My opinion too is that it is 5-6/10 range. But, that really means nothing. Many people will throw out 1 or 10s for any reason at all.
