Two months ago GateWorld reported that actor David Palffy was interested in returning to play the role of Anubis’s clone, Khalek, in SG-1‘s upcoming episode “Prototype” (story). Now actor Robert Picardo, who returns as N.I.D. Agent Richard Woolsey in the episode, reveals who was finally cast in that role.
The actor is Neil Jackson, 29, an amateur boxing champion-turned-actor who recently appeared in “Alexander” with Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie, and Val Kilmer. He was a regular on the series Dream Team, and has also guest starred in several episodes of the TV drama Sugar Rush.
Picardo, in an interview with GateWorld, spoke well of the role and the man who will play him. “It’s a great guest star turn for this young British actor who plays a character named Khalek,” he said. “A very good new villain. Terrific.”
Khalek is the first of a race of beings Anubis engineered in the hopes that the army would ascend to the realm of the Ancients and destroy them. However, thanks to Anubis’s defeat above Earth (“Lost City, Part 2”), he never finished, and the clone will eventually make its way into the hands of Stargate Command.
“Prototype” has already been filmed and is expected to premiere on The SCI FI Channel before the fall break. Visit GateWorld’s episode guide for more, and stay tuned for more from Robert Picardo!
