Stargate: Horizon Primer – Part Two

As Season One of the virtual series Stargate: Horizon progressed, more and more back story regarding the Ascendant Empire and the Draque was revealed. However, this wasn’t the only major storyline of the season.

The Horizon team encountered many potential friends, as well as potential enemies. Even some old enemies like the Aschen made appearances, and a great deal of Vorian history was revealed. Yet toward the end of the season, the team had encountered another dangerous enemy, even more dangerous than the Draque: the Enoly.

The Enoly are one of the high-ranking members of the Ascendant Empire. They are beings which originally evolved underwater; today they have reached a state where they are able to exist outside of water for short periods. However, they are required to “regenerate” in water tanks approximately every 21 hours. The Enoly home planet is a gigantic ocean world in the Triangulum Galaxy; several huge underwater cities are spread across this world, which is called Enola.

In many ways the Enoly are very unique; there are many different Enoly species, very much like different fish species on Earth. All of them have differences in appearances as well as some different characteristics. As the team first encountered the Enoly in the episode fittingly titled “The Enoly,” they hoped for establishing an alliance with this powerful species. Very soon it became clear that the Enoly had their own agenda, which is not one that would turn out in favor for the Horizon team.

The Enoly were only featured in a three-parter during Season One (“The Enoly,” “In Purgatory’s Shadow,” and “Counterpoint”). We will be seeing a great deal more of them in Season Two.

To conclude this Horizon primer, here’s a look at the show’s main characters! The cast consists of eight regulars, including a new character who will be introduced in the Season Two opener, “A Time To Rise.” (Fantasy cast members are in parentheses.) The brief character descriptions — including their position on the team and on Horizon — are up to date with the Season Two premiere.

Colonel John Grant (Kiefer Sutherland)
The commanding officer of the Horizon team. Grant was also the commanding officer of Horizon during Season One, as the station was run by the I.S.G.C. alone.

Commander Sivea Ve’nal (Ashley Scott)
Member of and second in command of the Horizon team. Sivea was the Vorian liaison on Horizon during Season One.

Major Chase Reynolds (Ben Browder)
Member of the Horizon team. Grant and Chase have known each other for several years; they had initially served in NASA together, before being transferred to the S.G.C.

Captain David Connor (Carlos Bernard)
A former Special Forces officer, now member of the Horizon team. David was born and raised in Spain; he speaks both English and Spanish fluently.

Christine Summers (Rachael Leigh Cook)
Member of the Horizon team. Christine is a talented archaeology expert with a passion for her work. Grant first met her several years ago. After realizing her special talent for ancient languages, he chose her to be on his team.

Dr. Thomas Galloway (Dion Johnstone)
Former member of the Horizon team. Tom is a gifted astrophysicist and expert on Ancient technology.

Dr. Lenori (Andrew J. Robinson)
A Tok’ra scientist and physicist. Unlike regular Tok’ra hosts, Lenori is not human. He comes from a planet in the Milky Way Galaxy, which is inhabited by one of the oldest civilizations still around.

Commander De’van Callen, Third Grade (Dennis Haysbert)
Commander Callen will be joining the cast in Season Two. He is the new commanding officer of the Horizon station, and will essentially be the Horizon equivalent to the S.G.C.’s General Landry and Atlantis’s Dr. Weir.
