Actor Corin Nemec (“Jonas Quinn”) stars in the independent film “Nice Guys,” entered in the upcoming Phoenix Film Festival. The sixth annual festival runs from April 5 to 7 at Valley Art and Scottsdale theatres in Phoenix, Arizona. Last year, the Valley Art launched the surprisingly successful “What the Bleep Do We Know!?”, an independent film about spiritualism and science that went on to a successful national run is still playing in Tempe almost a year later. In a recent interview with UGO.com Nemec said, “I have a film right now at the Phoenix Film Festival called ‘Nice Guys’ that I’m starring in with David Faustino, Jason Mewes, Danny Trejo, Jason Marsden, and Michael DeLorenzo. It’s a fun, small film about a dope heist by four half-witted morons who somehow come up with a scheme to rip off a million dollars in dope and they manage to get away with it. But then, in the end, they feel bad about it so they turn it over.”Nemec has appeared in so much science fiction that he judges the concepts carefully before committing to the projects. “I wanted to do a sci-fi because I like the genre and I like doing action type stuff,” he said. “It’s fun as an actor.”Some of the actor’s credits are for various monster movies, such as the recent “Mansquito” and “Raging Sharks.” Nemec has filmed all over the world from Vancouver to Bulgaria, and recently appeared in the SCI FI Channel movie “SS Doomtrooper” (story).”I enjoy the process I go through in acting and even with these titles and subject matter,” he told the site. “I bring everything that I possibly can to not only the part, but also the overall project. … So, I approach the character as somebody who’s very real to me. What comes out of that comes out. I just try and keep it real. I try to live within the bounds of the reality that’s been scripted and max it out as much as possible.”There were 850 films submitted to the festival for consideration this year: 250 features and 600 shorts. Film lovers who are interested in attending can purchase tickets from the Phoenix Film Society.
