Beware of minor spoilers below.
The action kicks off with Stargate SG-1, which enters its record-setting tenth season. Claudia Black (“Vala Mal Doran”) joins the regular cast of the series, which saw a popular and creative resurgence last year.
In “Flesh and Blood,” which resolves the March cliffhanger, Vala gives birth to the new leader of the evil Ori invasion force. Meanwhile, SG-1 and their allies attempt to regroup after the first Ori ships to arrive from another galaxy through the Supergate decimate their fleet.
Stargate Atlantis enters its third season tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, with “No Man’s Land.” Two Wraith hive ships have learned how to find Earth and are on their way, following the Season Two cliffhanger. Colonel Sheppard finds his way on board their ship and must find his captured friends and stop the vampiric creatures before they reach his homeworld.
But to do so, he’ll need some help from the Wraith-human hybrid Michael (Connor Trinneer), who he learns is now outcast among the Wraith because of what the Atlantis team did to him (“Michael”).
Don’t miss the start of another year of Stargate! SCI FI will air ten episodes of each show from July to September, then follow with the usual fall break.
The new seasons are expected to debut this fall on Sky One in the United Kingdom, and later in other countries. The new season of Atlantis will premiere in Canada on Movie Central (The Movie Network) and Movie Central HD on August 21.
