Stargate SG-1 is officially in the Guinness World Records! The new, 2007 edition of the Guiness Book lists the show under the “TV Personalities” section for the Longest Consecutive Running Sci-Fi TV Show. (Readers can find the listing on page 180.)
Stargate SG-1 has run without a break for nearly 10 years, since its first episode, “Children of the Gods,” premiered on July 27, 1997. As of the 203rd episode, “Company of Thieves,” SG-1 will beat the 202 episodes of The X-Files, which ran from September 10, 1993 through May 9, 2002.
The Guinness Book entry includes a photo of the current cast — Ben Browder (Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell), Beau Bridges (Major General Hank Landry), Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson), Amanda Tapping (Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter), Christopher Judge (Teal’c), Claudia Black (Vala Mal Doran) — and executive producers Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper.
