Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1‘s Dr. Daniel Jackson) and Jaime Ray Newman (Stargate Atlantis‘s Lt. Laura Cadman) co-star in “Under the Mistletoe,” a Christmas romance set to premier on the Lifetime cable network tonight, Monday, December 4, at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific (reruns Sunday, December 17, at 7 p.m. eastern & Pacific).

Newman plays a widow whose dormant love life is jump-started by a radio contest date, the interest of her son’s school counselor (Shanks), and her deceased husband’s attempts to influence her choices.

A busy man since Stargate SG-1‘s tenth season wrapped in October, Shanks has been to Bulgaria to play a reluctant ambulance driver in “Megasnake” destined to air on SCI FI Channel in the U.S. He is currently filming another Lifetime movie called “Judicial Indiscretion.” Tackling a darker role, he plays a psychopath who terrorizes Anne Archer, a nominee for the United States Supreme Court.

In addition, Shanks, along with wife Lexa Doig (“Dr. Carolyn Lam”) and children, joined Stargate SG-1 co-stars Christopher Judge (“Teal’c”) and Gary Jones (“Walter Harriman”) as Grand Marshals of Vancouver’s Rogers-Third Annual Santa Claus Parade, held November 19.
