Two new episode titles have been revealed for the fifth season of Stargate Atlantis! Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi gave fans an update on the show’s production at his blog this week, including the upcoming episodes “Ghost In the Machine” and “The Daedalus Variations”.
“Ghost In the Machine” is written by staff writer Carl Binder, and is currently slated to be fifth in the production order.
“The Daedalus Variations” is being penned by staff writer Alan McCullough. Based on the title, the episode will probably focus on the Earth battle-cruiser Daedalus, which is commanded by Colonel Steven Caldwell (Mitch Pileggi).
Also on deck is McCullough’s second script of the year (currently untitled), to which executive producer Robert C. Cooper contributed part of the story. Mallozzi promises this episode will include “extreme Shep-whumpage” — code for John Sheppard getting a world of hurt.
Finally, Mallozzi assured fans that the continuing Replicator storyline will be continued in Season Five, despite the loss of actress Torri Higginson (“Elizabeth Weir,” story). Weir appeared at the end of Season Four’s “Be All My Sins Remember’d,” apparently the new leader of a rogue group of surviving Replicators.
“The script will be revised, adjustments made, and that particular story will be told in Season Five,” Mallozzi said. “We won’t leave you hanging.”
The Atlantis writer’s room is now in full swing — thanks in no small part to the much-celebrated return of Carl Binder, who has been on strike with the Writer’s Guild of America since early November. Binder is the only full-time member of the Canadian Atlantis writing staff who is a WGA member. The guild is expected to approve a new deal with the studios in a vote today, ending the 3-month strike.
Stargate Atlantis goes before cameras on February 19.
