Now GateWorld has learned that Martin will be putting on his directing cap for the fourth episode he is writing this season.
“It’s been an interesting year,” Gero told GateWorld in an interview. “I’ll write the season premiere and the mid-season two-parters which are big episodes, and then I’m going to do one more, which I’m also going to direct.”
The season premiere, “Search and Rescue,” opens Season Five just about where Season Four left off. The mid season two-parter, “First Contact” and “The Lost Tribe,” is a pair of episodes everyone is talking about, notably because it features the return of Daniel Jackson.
“I have no idea what it’s going to be yet,” Gero told us regarding the episode he will write and direct. “I’m focused on getting this two-parter really, really great. I think, ideally, [it will] be a smaller, quieter episode and save some money.”
More recently Gero informed GateWorld exclusively that this fourth episode will be Earth-based. The title is still not known.
Originally slated for episode 15 of the season, Martin’s story and directing slot have been moved to Episode 16, according to a post on Executive Producer Joe Mallozzi’s blog. “It keeps moving around because I have responsibilities.” Gero says, referring to his feature film.
