The final apperance of the convention came from Amanda Tapping (“Col. Samantha Carter”). Tapping, who has just recently begun production on Season Two of her latest series Sanctuary, fielded and was very open on a variety of questions from fans regarding her career and her personal life.
“I still take acting classes,” Tapping said. “I don’t think you can ever really quit learning. The things that work when you’re in your twenties don’t when you reach your thirties and forties. So you constantly have to learn, sharpen and hone your skills.”
For those wondering how she feels about the long-teased emotional subtext between Carter and O’Neill, Tapping thinks it’s just about time viewers finally get to see some pay-off.
“You’ve had two intelligent human beings with ‘healthy appetites’ living under an almost puritanical rule for eleven years or so now,” Tapping said. “As far as I’m concerned, I think it’s time for them to go fishing.”

After the convention, Creation Entertainment co-founder Adam Malin took the time to extend a gracious thank you to all the fans who helped to make the 2009 event such a success.
“Thank you to so many of you who were in attendance at our Vancouver Official Stargate Convention,” Malin said. “This was an amazing weekend to remember, with so many of our favorite stars as well as talented production people and three esteemed executive producers. For the first time we got tantalizing clues and glimpses into the highly anticipated new show Stargate Universe, and friends from around the world reunited and rekindled our friendships and love of the Stargate franchise.
“We would, once again, like to thank Brad, John and Rob for their love and support of Stargate fans and their willingness to go the extra distance for us through the studio tour outreaches, the beautiful Prop and Costume Museum we are allowed to stage, and the unparalleled access to Bridge Studios and the Stargate intellectual property. We would also like to thank the wonderful folks at Stargate Universe and MGM Publicity, MGM Consumer Products, MGM Television, and all the corporate team that helped support this effort.
“We also want to extend a big thanks to Darren, David, Chad and the GateWorld team for their continuing support of our event and their excellence as the world’s number one source of information on the Stargate franchise.”
Our thanks to Creation and our fellow fans for making this a week to remember! Next year’s Vancouver convention is set for April 15 to 18, 2010. But first is Creation’s Chicago event, August 21 to 23 of this year, followed by Los Angeles from November 6 to 8. Learn more at CreationEnt.com.
Ok… so what did Cooper/Wright actually SAY about Universe?
Yeah, I wish we could have transcripts or something of the SGU panel.
thanks for the report! ;)
especially thanks for the juicy tid-bit on what amanda thinks sam and jack should be ‘doing’. :p :D
what do they mean by “changes to the Atlantis leadership”? Does it mean the main cast will not signe up for the movie. Who does not he or she participate to the movie?
If one of member of the main Atlantis Cast(Flanigan, Hewlett, Momoa or Lutrell) They will risk to jeopardize the Success. I know the title is Atlantis not the name of a character so the TPTB can kill each character but it would be a bad choice
Amanda, I hope they’ll listen to you, especialy because the third movie is more about Jack ;)
And owww, look at the Furling :D
Not much of a report in my view, since you just tease what they had to say on the SGU panel.
More to come on the SGU panel. Working on it now — stay tuned!
