When Stargate Universe premieres this fall, fans in Canada will not only be keeping up with Syfy Channel in the United States — they’ll be watching at the same time.
SGU makes its premiere on SPACE on Friday, October 2 at 9 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. Pacific), the network is now advertising. That’s to-the-hour the same time as the U.S. premiere on the East Coast.
According to unconfirmed reports, the show will move to its regular timeslot at 10 p.m. the following week.
The move to SPACE is a significant leap for the country, where Stargate has been filmed since 1997. Stargate Atlantis aired new episodes on The Movie Network (Movie Central), a subscription cable channel. SPACE is a major science fiction network available in more homes.
Following their television broadcast, SPACE said, episodes of SGU will be available on demand at Watch.SpaceCast.com.
In the U.K., meanwhile, fans will see the premiere on Tuesday, October 6. New episodes will air just four days after the U.S. and Canada, keeping fans in three of Stargate‘s largest viewing markets in sync each week.
UPDATE: We’ve been advised that SGU will premiere on SciFi Channel Australia on Friday, October 9.

How about Australia? Season 4 of Atlantis hasn't even aired on Seven yet (the network that owns the rights to SG1 and Atlantis), so is there any chance we will see Stargate Universe before 2012? Does anyone know if a different network will have the rights to Universe, or does Seven have the rights to all Stargate spinoffs?
