Robert Carlyle interviewed on This Morning

Actor Robert Carlyle is on the couch talking about Stargate Universe in a brand new interview on the U.K. morning program This Morning.

In the interview Carlyle talks about being a sci-fi fan and getting to know the Stargate universe, relocating his family to Vancouver, his character of Dr. Nicholas Rush, and more.

The interview clip includes some new footage from the series, including one particularly tense moment between Rush and Sgt. Ronald Greer (Jamil Walker Smith). The interview runs just over nine minutes.  Watch it below!

This Morning airs weekdays at 10:30 a.m. on itv1 in the United Kingdom. Stargate Universe premieres October 2 on Syfy Channel.

(Thanks to Jedi Master Bra’tac for the tip!)

  • What a terrible interview. It that was meant to promote SGU it failed miserably. Carlyle seems to lack any kind of charisma or stage presence and no one seemed to know anything about Stargate. Carlyle didnt even give the correct airing date. I agree with his sentiment about whether he was the right man for the job

  • I think that with all the publicity that the creators etc have put out and with Atlantis's cancellation it will have problems with it's first season. Even though I am still upset at the way Atlantis was ended and the way I felt about SGU I still wish them success, only because of the actors and crew (not the ptb!), it's not their fault that certain individuals have no sense whatsoever! My other problem is that it is not my Stargate, it's different, don't get me wrong, I loved BSG but Stargate has been the same format for over 12 years and has helped me through some difficult times. Nostalgia makes me hesitate so with all these factors SGU is not a show I want to invest in (sorry Robert but you didn't convince me to change my mind and only you or Lou could of done this!). Anyway, good luck to everyone involved (except the ptb) and I hope you fans who are going to watch it find a new passion!

  • I haven't the time or patience to wait for the interview to load but on Friday night here in Aus...Melbourne to be precise, they are showing the movie "The Full Monty"....and I'm sorry but I just love it and love RC in it...I'm gonna want to sing that infamous song when I meet him one day. I always think of Robert when I hear "Hot Stuff". It would be cool if they played that on the set of SGU...and even cooler if all the guys did the full monty!!
Sorry...I know it has nothing to do with the interview but I just had to say it anyways! :D
    Robert Carlyle rocks my socks!

  • Robert Carlyle is one of Britains best actors for TV and film. The fact that he is on this show proves that. Also this will also increase the amount of stargate viewers as he has a huge following in Britain. So obviously the 2 comments above haven't really watched much of his work. If or when you do you will change your mind. I garauntee.

  • This program may be watched by a lot of people, but it's mainly stay-at-home mums and OAPs, not really the demographic they should be targeting.

It'd be better on Jonathan Ross or Top Gear.

Apparently he's having a radio interview his the BBC soon, if he hasn't already had it.

  • Wow, Robert Carlyle must have owed someone a huge favour to agree to go on This Morning. It used to be pretty bad with Richard and Judy, but with Eamon Holmes even my Nanna doesn't watch it anymore. ;)

  • Jedi_Master_Bra'tac you obviously don't understand promotion. If this show's demographics are what you say they are, it is exactly the the one they should be targeting. The Sci-fi geeks of the world already know about Stargate, and SGU. It is the casual viewer that is needed to make the show more successful in the ratings. You don't try and preach to the choir, you try to convert non-believers.

Whether an old Stargate or Sci-Fi fan is going to watch the show or not, 90% of them know about it. That is why this was a good interview. They focused on the man more than the show, because if someone who saw it will tune it, it will be because Robert Carlyle is in it, not because it's "Stargate"

  • cmuty, I'm tuning in because Robert Carlyle is in it, AND, because it’s “Stargate”. Hey, I thought he was great in the "24" tv movie.

  • I want to point out that the interview was 'terrible' because of Robert Carlyle, etc. Instead it was because of the hosts. I mean, I thought a lot of the American hosts for these morning tv shows were bad...I guess I was wrong.

This is just my humble opinion, but it seemed this way.
