“SGU 1.0” will be available on February 9, 2010, with a heaping helping of bonus material and an extended version of the 3-part series premiere, “Air.” The DVD edition will reportedly carry a suggested price of $49.98 U.S. ($59.98 CAN), and the Blu-ray $69.99 ($89.99 CAN) — but of course, retailers will discount those.
Pre-order the DVD set now for just $27.99 (price subject to change) at Amazon.com.
As we reported back in September (story), it’s the first half-season release for the Stargate franchise, following the footsteps of shows like Battlestar Galactica. Because Season One is airing in two batches separated by some four months, the multiple release plan will allow fans the opportunity to catch up on the story so far — and give the show a bit of extra promotion — just before the spring premiere.
It’s also the first complete Blu-ray release for a season of the Stargate franchise. Only the original film, the two SG-1 movies, and a single-disc release of Stargate Atlantis (with the series premiere and series finale) have been released in high definition so far.
The three DVD discs and two Blu-ray discs will include ten episodes (counting “Air” Parts 1 and 2 as two episodes, though they aired together), and an audio commentary for every episode. Commenters are:
The Blu-ray edition will include a few additional bonus features, including “Kawoosh 2.0” and a featurette on the White Sands, New Mexico shoot. Check out the full list at TVShowsOnDVD.com.
Episodes will be presented in anamorphic widescreen format, with English Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and Spanish Dolby Surround. Subtitles will be available in English, Spanish and French.

Holy FRAK! To even ask that people shell out $50-$70 for HALF OF A SEASON of a TV show is an affront to our current economic crisis. Of course, I'm going to buy it (for the commentaries and Ivon's BTS ONLY)... when it goes on sale for $20 or less.
Nice.
LOLROTF Where do I get in line Mr. Barnum?
I like the show but not that much. I will gladly wait until the price drops or they have the whole season in one pack.
Bit expensive for coasters. Please let me know when SG-1 is ready.
As I made clear when this was first talked about, I WILL NOT be buying it. I will not pay for half a season. I probably would buy a full season but never a half. Way to screw it up.
This would have to be under $10 for me to buy. I bought Atlantis Season 5(the whole season, not half) for $21 on Amazon. This is just what Universal did with BSG season 2 and I never bought it. This is like 7 years ago TV season prices. Get real MGM
50 bucks for 1/2 a season.......you can get a whole season of SG-1 or Atlantis for less than that! I'm NOT buying these if it's gonna be $100 a season
BSG did this and it was annoying.
I'll wait for a full season...
BYE
I hate the half season releases. Especially for that price. Yikes. $35 (probably) on Amazon? For half a season? I don't think so.
