Canada’s newest science fiction series will be back next year for another season, with Showcase announcing today that it has renewed Continuum for a second season.
The show has received a 13-episode order for Season Two, expected to air in Canada next spring.
The series stars Rachel Nichols (Alias, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) as Kiera Cameron, a cop from the year 2077, who is thrown back to the present day when a group of terrorists escape their death sentence into the past. Kiera must stop the Liber8 terrorist group from winning the hearts and minds of the past and changing the future.
“Continuum was a tremendous success for the channel,” Barbara Williams, Shaw Media’s Senior VP of Content, said. “We are proud to green light such a prolific ratings hit and original series for a second season, and to continue Kiera’s journey through time for our dedicated viewers.”
The series is shot and set in the city of Vancouver, and features several familiar faces from Stargate in recurring roles. Tony Amendola (“Bra’tac”) plays Liber8 leader Eduard Kagame, while Lexa Doig (“Carolyn Lam”) plays Sonya Valentine, another of the terrorist group. SGU‘s Jennifer Spence (“Lisa Park”) plays Betty Robertson, who works in the present-day Vancouver Police Department; and Brian Markinson (“Lotan”) plays Department chief Dillon.
Victor Webster (Mutant X, Castle) and Eric Knudsen (Jericho) also star.
Season One of Continuum ran for 10 episodes in the spring and early summer on Showcase in Canada, and has yet to make its appearance State-side. It broke records for Showcase, with over 1 million viewers.
Showcase also airs the fantasy series Lost Girl, which is currently airing on Syfy Channel in the U.S.
UPDATE: The Televixen is reporting that “Continuum will be airing on a major U.S. network in the new year and will dovetail into Season Two.” Stay tuned for updates.

YAY, I love Continuum .... Looking forward to season 2.
i am in the us how can i see the show?
I imagine if it runs another season or so it might get picked up by a broadcaster in the states, as Lost Girl did. I would not hold my breath.
Any legal online options to view? I wonder if Netflix will pick it up.
Finally! A decent Sci-fi programme that didn't get cancelled for once. Looking forward to it!
