Stargate’s Tabletop Roleplaying Game Is Now Available

The newest licensed entry in the wider Stargate universe has finally made its long-awaited debut.

The Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game core rulebook is now available from Wyvern Gaming. The essential guidebook for the tabletop game was released as a digital download on July 26, with the company now in process of bringing the full-color hardcover edition to print.

Out now is the 368-page digital edition, a full-color, bookmarked, and searchable copy. At $10.00 (U.S.) the book includes everything a Gate Master needs to run a campaign, with sections on character creation, playable races and other life forms, weapons and equipment, feats and ability scores, missions, and more.

Coming soon is the printed and bound edition of the core rulebook. It’s available for pre-order now directly from Wyvern, at a retail price of $59.99 (U.S.). Those who pre-order the book will also get instant access to download the PDF edition.

Wyvern says that gamers who are planning to attend the Gen Con 2021 tabletop gaming convention in Indianapolis next month (September 16 to 19) can pick up the book in person and save on shipping charges. So hopefully the rest of us who have ordered the rulebook will see it in the mail by then.

The Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game is an officially licensed sci-fi tabletop game where you assume the role of a member of Stargate Command. As an SG team member, you and your teammates will go on missions, guided by a Gatemaster, in the fight against the Goa’uld and other threats.

The Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game is based on the D&D 5th edition open gaming license. This is in keeping with Wyvern’s stated mission to make games approachable for everyone — simple to learn, but deep in what it has to offer.

The story for the RPG is set during the latter half of Stargate SG-1‘s sixth season, after Earth has forged a fragile alliance between the Jaffa resistance movement and the Tok’ra at its Alpha Site (“Allegiance”). Now at Earth’s Phoenix Site, new teams made up of allied races from all across the galaxy unite in the struggle against the Goa’uld.

The first season’s story includes 13 stories, each one of them a campaign ready for your squad to take on.

The game was originally announced more than two years ago, aiming for a 2020 release. COVID and other delays pushed the completion of the project to 2021, following a very successful Kickstarter campaign last fall.

Learn more about the RPG in GateWorld’s Toys & Games section, or listen to a conversation with Wyvern chief Brad Ellis on the GateWorld Podcast! We’ll have more on the hardcover edition when it becomes available.

A Stargate RPG custom dice set — a stretch goal from the Kickstarter campaign — is also coming soon for Kickstarter backers.
