The brand new Stargate video game is almost here, with public beta testing ongoing since July. Stargate: Timekeepers is a real-time tactics game for PCs, featuring 14 levels and an original story set during Stargate SG-1.
Now publisher Slitherine Ltd. tells GateWorld that they plan to release the game in October or November of this year.
It may be that the lack of a specific release date this late in development has something to do with Timekeepers being a licensed game. MGM has final approval over the game.
Slitherine says that in this final phase of development it has been focused especially on filling out the game’s story, in order to make it a worth entry in the legacy of the Stargate franchise.
“What we want to release in terms of gameplay, scenarios and such is almost done,” Slitherine marketing director Marco Minoli said on this week’s “Tea Time” livestream. “We’re working hard to add this extra layer of the narrative campaign — adding this narrative layer. This is something we are not used to in all these character-based games. We usually do faction-based games that are less about the people and more about the war, and the scenario, and the storyline behind it.
“So we’re taking a lot of care and attention to make sure that we do focus a lot on a Stargate experience. And to do that we’re doing a lot of cool cut-scenes, and producing something that’s not really specifically related to actual gameplay, but to add an extra layer of polish to the game.”
Timekeepers follows Colonel Eva McCain and a team of specialists in their fight against the Goa’uld. The first mission picks up after the seventh season climax “Lost City,” and continues with levels exploring the planet Hak’tyl, Goa’uld strongholds, and more.
Eventually an encounter with time-travel technology will have McCain and her team hopping around the Stargate timeline, living up to the Timekeepers name.
The game will launch with seven of its 14 missions, with a variety of difficulty levels and around an hour of gameplay for each mission. (Don’t worry — the second set of levels are also included in the base purchase of the game.)

Might pick this up at some point since its Stargate and looks like it might be fun-ish.
At least it doesn’t seem to be a c&c kind of game. There’s actually quite a bit of difference in click to move games. Certain ones you might like even if you don’t like most of them or stopped enjoying them like me.
And we haven’t actually had an official Stargate game release after all these years!
I’m not really big on strategy based games. Although the game’s graphics look pretty decent an MMO would have been so much better! Maybe in the future?
Google Stargate Worlds, we came soooo close!!!
What about xbox?
Im a little disappointed about tha type of game…i wish we can have a rpg game with an open world
I am really looking forward to this one! Finally a Stargate game.
Another franchise replacing it’s traditional lead with a “strong female” character? Gimme a break! I can already tell this is going to be a disaster. Oh well … go woke …
Yeah, what kind of crappy franchise would replace its traditional lead with a “strong female” character, ship them off to another galaxy, and make them fight the Wraith…
Better call Hammond, the woke agenda’s taken over Atlantis!
