Is “Window of Opportunity” the greatest episode of Stargate ever? It’s certainly been a top-ranked favorite episode among fans ever since it first aired on August 4, 2000.
Stargate SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright and The Companion are set to celebrate the episode in a special livestream event this Saturday, October 21, at The Companion. The fun will run for one hour, starting at 11 a.m. Pacific (2 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. BT).
Joining him are long-time Stargate writers and producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, who joined the Stargate SG-1 writing staff in the show’s fourth season … and yep, they just happened to write “Window of Opportunity.”
In the episode Jack and Teal’c find themselves trapped in a time loop after an encounter with alien technology, and are forced to relive the same hours over, and over, and over again.
After their 11 years together on SG-1, Atlantis, and SGU, Wright went on to create the sci-fi drama Travelers for Netflix and Canada’s Showcase. Mallozzi and Mullie adapted their graphic novel Dark Matter into an action-adventure series for Syfy Channel. Both shows ran for three seasons.
“Stargate Legacy” began last year with an event celebrating the original SG-1 pilot episode. With “Window of Opportunity” this week it becomes an ongoing series of retrospective conversations.
Tickets are free for paid subscribers to The Companion, but for anyone who wants to catch this conversation the site is also selling tickets for $20.00 (U.S.). Visit The Companion now to sign up and secure your ticket.
