Actor David Hewlett will return to SG-1 as the lovable and surly Dr. Rodney McKay in “Moebius, Part 1,” GateWorld has learned. In an alternate timeline, McKay is the project leader studying a ship capable of travelling through time. His usual self, though, he’s not too busy to hit on the alternate timeline’s version of Samantha Carter.
Amanda Tapping (“Carter”) and Gary Jones (“Sergeant Harriman”) will make brief cameo appearances in the Atlantis episode “Letters From Pegasus,” in which the Atlantis expedition members record messages to send back to Earth.
And people aren’t the only things to be crossing over this season: look for some important technology to be travelling the galactic distance between the two shows as well. An Ancient time ship like the one that Dr. Weir uses to travel 10,000 years into Atlantis’ past in “Before I Sleep” makes its way to a planet in our galaxy, where SG-1 finds it in “It’s Good To Be King.”
The team will use the same ship to hunt for a valuable Zero Point Module in Earth’s distant past in the season finale, “Moebius.” The Z.P.M. power source is then used to send reinforcements to Atlantis in time for “The Siege, Part 2.”
Early-season crossovers included Dr. Weir’s (Torri Higginson) stint in the 2-part SG-1 season premiere, O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) and Jackson’s (Michael Shanks) help kicking off the new spin-off series in Atlantis‘s “Rising,” and appearances by General Hammond (Don S. Davis) and Sergeant Harriman in Atlantis‘ “Home.”
New episodes of both shows resume January 21 on The SCI FI Channel! Visit GateWorld’s episode guides for SG-1 Season Eight and Atlantis Season One to learn more about the upcoming episodes.
