GateWorld Podcast: On the Eve of SGU

Visit the GateWorld Podcast page for more about the show!

Premiere week for Stargate Universe is finally here! We’re counting down the final hours until the show’s long-awaited debut with a special installment of the podcast. After talking about SGU for more than a year — speculating, breaking down the characters and discussing the trailers — it’s time to get ready for “Air” on Friday night.

We’ll talk about the fan backlash, reinventing a show to attract a new audience, and the Destiny‘s crew of characters. What do Darren and David hope that the new show will be like, and what do we think it needs to do to re-energize Stargate on television? That’s the subject of this week’s podcast discussion, as we stand on the eve of Stargate Universe.

As we gear up to talk about episodes of Stargate Universe, we are trying out a new format for the podcast. Starting with this week’s show it is slimmer and sleeker, with no News or Site Features segments — just the main discussion and your calls. Please let us know what you think.

  • Thanks for posting the podcast! I've been eagerly awaiting it. New format sounds cool - maybe I'll miss the news...

  • Something that has confused me for awhile now is how people can complain so much about a tv show. Just stop watching if you hate it so much. So I'm glad you guys brought it up in this podcast.

  • But such things are expensive. Also, demanding creatures that can be advanced, yet have no limbs, is a bit much.

  • AbstractAlien: Most of technological civilizations in the Universe MUST have two arms, two legs and at least one head. Other aspects of alien anatomy may be very different, but from long distance aliens would be more or less looking like us humans.

Another thing is the faces. I'm really tired of rubber-faced aliens, Wraith for example. Something was completely lost in compare to original Wraith concept-art and paintings.

You've seen James Cameron's "Avatar" trailer? Yes, that is what I want really bad now. Can't wait to see the times when those technologies will be affordable on Sci-Fi (or i should say SyFy) television shows. There's will be so much WIN for the actors as well as for the viewers.
