Tonight on SGU: ‘Darkness’

Tonight marks the first regular episode of Stargate Universe to follow the 3-part series premiere! Here’s an early look at “Darkness.”

Watch out for significant SPOILERS, particularly in Syfy’s full episode description …

From TV Guide:

When the Destiny‘s power reserves drop to a critical level, the crew is ordered to use power for essential services only, but the rationing isn’t enough to keep Rush from announcing that all on board will die within days.

From Syfy:

Dr. Nicholas Rush has been working throughout the night to try and determine why the ship’s power reserves are critically low. He reiterates his mounting concerns to Colonel Young, who advises the crew to limit their power consumption to essential services only. Suddenly the lights dim to emergency levels and everything but life support goes dead.

Overwhelmed by fatigue and frustration, Rush declares that all on board will perish within days. But when Destiny’s flight path towards a solar system reveals the existence of three planets, they hope that one of them is habitable.

Meanwhile Eli records individual messages from the crew in case they don’t survive.

  • I hope SGU is not going to be the same old predicatable..."disaster happens, 'we're all going to die', oh we saved everyone at the last second" formula. That will get old very very quickly.

  • They said that the only system that still worked after the blackout was life support. I guess they just take artificial gravity for granted.

  • Real World confessionals, a gratuitous shower scene, and peeping in on a chick with huge boobies! This show is really setting the bar for intelligent science fiction!

  • Big hope for this show as I really like the actors and characters right off the bat. However, I hope they don't have to go to the one big bad enemy thing. A few concerns - All this personel is supposed to be highly trained military and scientists who were on another planet and they all get freaked out so quick? The communication stones are going to be a problem because I am wondering why Sam and or Mckay are not switching with the cook and solving the problems on the ship. Or maybe thats how they will get it fixed. I want a good scifi show and I hope they don't screw this one up as it is great so far.

  • LOL!The "huge boobies" seem to be one of the most commented on aspects of the episode!
    (here and on SyFy)

  • ANOTHER awesome show. I don't really understand the people who don't like the 'shaky' cam. It doesn't seem that shaky to me.

Rush's breakdown just looks like a typical day at the office to me. They HAVE to get rid of Chloe. She is a waste and just not cute enough to justify it.

I still have problems with the body swapping presentation. If Telford's body shows up as host to Young's soul (or whatever) I doubt that Young's wife would believe Young was inhabiting it. And quite doubtful she would kick out Lou Diamond Philips. They need to do something where it is clearer, otherwise it just looks like a flashback. Hopefully these are just kinks that will be worked out in the future. But I can live with it like it is.

I do love this show. Keep up the great work...

  • Great special effects...which is about the only redeeming feature this show's got going for it imo. Everybody should take turns using those NEXTEL PTT rocks instead of a video to their loved ones. It's feeling more and more like BSG. Being on board a broken ship, hurtling aimlessy in space, owned previously by aliens that just got tired of it and shed their human forms...so the old saying is true..."One alien's garbage is another human's treasure"..lol!I seriously don't envision a lot of seasons in this show's future. This type of plot is better suited as a 2hour movie rather than a drawn out series...a team gets transported to that ship...**** goes terribly wrong...SG1 tries to save them...but oh well...can't save them all...ship gets blown up by Jack...the end.

  • Yep huge boobies was the highlight.

Ah and everyone who recorded there Goodbys must have done them in a other universe/time because the lights in the floors were allways on in the back....

But iam just a SciFi fan...
