And now for something completely different: Star Trek‘s William Shatner interviewing Stargate and Sanctuary actress Amanda Tapping!
Tapping talks about Sanctuary‘s origins on the Internet, a success story that Shatner is hoping to duplicate with the new sci-fi social networking site MyOuterSpace.
The interview runs about six minutes long (and yes, the audio and video are out of sync).
(Thanks to Rich for the tip!)
Cool, lucky her.
She’s such a sweetheart, as always. As for their website: With all due respect, at first glance, that website seems to be a low-budget affair that is largely about Shatner. All the “Admiral of MyOuterSpace Shatner” and “animate Shatner” stuff, and especially the cheesy-looking $4.95 web hosting advertisement look kind of tacky. I mean, any support from inside the industry that thoughtful and creative sci-fi can get is a good thing, but they need to step back and decide what their site is really about – and redesign it accordingly – if they really want to have a positive impact… Read more »
Oh yeah. I watched this live back in July.
Or was it July? I can’t remember. Anyways. Amanda seemed pretty star struck. I will love Shatner no matter what he does, but I have to agree with Dachannien. The whole myouterspace thing just seems so… yeah, tacky is the word.
It’s funny you comment on the hosting company… HostGator is probably the best most professional hosting company you can get. It’s cheap, it’s not a reseller (has it’s own datacenters, connected directly to the internet backbone), the entire company is US-based (24/7 I can call a guy in TEXAS). It came recommended to me by a network administrator, and I’ve recommended it to everyone since.
Don’t mean to be an ad, just saying, not a cheesy company, even if their logo is. It’s not surprising for a website to use ads through the affiliate program of their own host.
Meh.
Love her… I wish I could see a lot more of her on TV :)
Sanctuary rocks!
Hmm…. I think maybe She want new three movie is: Stargate:Revolation OR SGE?? HUH? What is She tell?? :-/
@HolyAngelQueenSG-1
I’m going to guess that english isn’t your primary language.
Anyway, I think we can all agree that William Shatner and Amanda Tapping are awesome in their own rights, but like Dachannien said, the whole sci-fi social network things seems tacky and pointless when compared to the social networking giant known as Facebook.
@Billz
I still English with ASL. i was real deaf. okay?
@HolyAngelQueenSG-1
Oh I see. I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you were deaf.
When Shatner asked Amanda if she wanted to be captain of a spaceship I wanted her to say that she was already the commander of a spaceship, The Hammond!
at 6:00 time the audio completely craps out..
Amanda Tapping is great but she was definitely up on adrenaline and seemed very nervous with Bill. Her voice was kind of shaking. Definitely star struck. I met here during signatures at a Creation Con and I was bumbling fool. DOH!
amanda was with william how fans are with her! :p
she’s sooooooooooooooooo cute!! :p
There seems to be some delay with the voiceover and the video. And yeah as retired said it cuts off at 6:00 mins.
I love Shatner, I really do. But I’ll be darned if he doesn’t get involved in some dodgy projects. I know he likes to stay in the public’s eye, but he needs to be more discriminating about which jobs he accepts.
I love Shatner but I think he may be the victim of his own success. It reminds me of how Vincent Price ended up in so many horrible projects just so he could keep working.
