Details on SGU’s April episodes revealed!

One of the few things that both fans and (many) detractors of Stargate Universe have been able to agree on is that the show has been taking significant leaps forward every half-season.  From what we’ve seen of the back half of Season Two so far that’s certainly holding true.  Today new plot details from four new episodes set to air in April only confirm that SGU is hitting its stride — and going out on a high note.

Watch out for falling spoilers ahead.

These episodes include the much-awaited “Seizure,” which guest stars not only Atlantis‘s David Hewlett (“Rodney McKay”) and Robert Picardo (“Richard Woolsey”) but also Victor Garber (Alias).  But don’t worry — not all the action will be taking place in the Milky Way Galaxy.  Destiny has a storyline of its own here, which based on the description may see the return of actress Kathleen Munroe in some form (be it voice, or hologram, or something else).

The new details also reveal that “Common Descent” and “Epilogue” are something of a two-parter, involving the first living, human (or humanoid) civilization encountered by Destiny since our crew came on board.

Here are the logline descriptions of episodes 15 through 18, courtesy of Canada’s SPACE Channel (with U.S./Canada air dates):

SEIZURE
Homeworld Command tries to convince an ally they suspect might be infiltrated by the Lucian Alliance to let them use their planet to dial Destiny. Meanwhile, Rush (Robert Carlyle) is trapped in a simulation created by Amanda Perry (Kathleen Munroe).  (April 4 & 5)

THE HUNT
The team is attacked and members taken captive by an alien creature while exploring a planet.  (April 11 & 12)

COMMON DESCENT
Destiny discovers the survivors of an interplanetary expedition who claim their civilization, Novus, was founded two thousand years earlier by Destiny‘s crew.  (April 18 & 19)

EPILOGUE
Returning the settlers to their home planet Novus, the Destiny crew discover the planet has been abandoned and on the verge of seismic destruction.  (April 25 & 26)

Can’t wait?  Us neither!  In the meantime, though, there is one more new episode left for March.  Tune in this Monday at 10/9c for “Hope” on Syfy in the U.S., and Tuesday at 10/9c on SPACE in Canada.

SPACE will also premiere new episodes of Amanda Tapping’s Sanctuary on the same day and time as Syfy, starting Friday, April 15 (10/9c).

  • I'm thinking (now) that Season One's risk has done more harm than good. Character growth is a gradual process. I'm thinking now that there could have quite easily have been more Stargate-esque episodes (like the ones described above) without being bogged down with potentially tedious drama. (The recent Chloe "crisis" being a prime example. What was the point of that?)
I really want a new series but I don't know what to think anymore. This was my dream show and already it's gone.

  • This show has gotten so amazing. I can't wait! Its sad to see stargate die, especially when SGU so darn good. I will always hope for best for the future of the franchise

  • So, what's the point in watching the remaining 7 episodes of the show, if the show has already been cancelled? No word from MGM/SyFy on if we'll ever see a 3rd season. No word on if we'll see any SGU movies made. What incentive do we have, to watch the rest of the show?

Not an SGU hater (anymore), since the previous 3 episodes have all been very good, and Season 2 as a whole has been leaps and bounds above Season 1. Just curious, why we should continue watching SGU. To end the show (when it's DEFINITELY improving in the episodes), on a cliffhanger is just... WRONG. And really sets up a bad taste for most fans, if they ever decide to make a 4th Stargate series. "They cancelled SGA, they cancelled SGU. Why should we watch SGx when they'll just cancel that too???"

  • To those still somehow hoping for a season 3...several key cast members have already moved on to other jobs. The downside to having A-list talent on a tv show is that they can find other jobs pretty easily. There's really no chance of a third season of SGU. There's barely any chance of a movie if they don't start it shortly. It is likely just dead. Re-tooling would be difficult without really changing the show and while I can think of at least one way they could pull it off, I doubt they'd do it or that they'll even get the chance.

As for the point in watching, it remains the same as before it was cancelled. You either want to watch the show or you don't. The episodes were already recorded before the cancellation was announced so it's not like the show's course is going to change as a result of it.

  • I wonder who came up with the name Novus for there civilisation, Eli, sound like it from science fiction series.
An is there any special meaning behind the world.
I also wondering how big there population is.
From the story is seems that the civilisation might be pretty advance as well, certainly advance enough to be sending out interplanetary expeditories. An it seem that we will also be getting a large contingent of new characters as well, all related to or crew. An if they are that advance then I bet they have also attracted the attention of our new drone friends and may be the Ursini as well.

  • Hints of the stories still ahead make us weep that this show was cancelled??? Are you kidding? The only thing that makes me weep is that SGA was cancelled for this nonsense. Now we have a Rodney McKay appearance to get more Atlantis fans tuning in. Well what makes me actually weep is not seeing him in weekly episodes of Atlantis.

  • To all fans. Can someone please tell me the logic in not watching sgu will somehow help the show? Pretty much in every comment page on the news tab has someone saying their not watching sgu because they say it won't do any good if they did watch it.
Listen not watching the show only reinforces and makes syfy's decision to cancel the show right. Syfy said they canceled it becasue of low viewers, well if the viewership was high then then it will make them look like dumb*****.And if another network was looking into renewing the show, they would see the good numbers of viewers would be a great addition to their network and would be a great buy. And to all SGA fan's out there, and I too love sga, just help the show out. Ya I know SGU replaced SGA and I'm pissed about it, but not helping the show hurts the franchise and I really want to see Stargate Extinction and Revolution

  • I've not watched SGU since midway through season 1. I will catch up in a marathon at some stage, but whilst I strongly detest the haters and the schemes of SGUsucks users, I'm also disappointed because Stargate Universe - which is a legitimate Stargate series whatever anyone says, not least the woefully egotistical Telepathic Pebble - could have been a lot better than it is. It isn't terrible, but not amazing. A missed opportunity.
