Stargate fans in the United States are about to get another option for watching the hit sci-fi franchise online.
Amazon has announced that it will launch twelve MGM-specific channels to Freevee over the coming months, including a 24/7 science fiction channel and an all-Stargate channel. Eleven channels of content from Warner Bros. Discovery will also be added to the service, which currently has more than 280 channels of free content.
Freevee is Amazon’s “FAST” streaming service — free, ad-supported television. Like the Stargate channel and on-demand offerings currently available on Pluto TV, episodes will be free without a login and contain commercials.
While the full details of the new offerings from MGM have yet to be revealed, we anticipate that all three Stargate series — Stargate SG-1 (10 seasons), Stargate Atlantis (5 seasons), and Stargate Universe (2 seasons) — will be available both on demand and running 24/7 on the dedicated Stargate channel.
Hopefully the three Stargate movies will also be made available.
We anticipate that the shows will remain ad-free for subscribers to Prime Video, though this remains to be seen. Amazon’s streaming choices around Stargate are not always rational, and because Freevee is integrated with Prime Video the company might opt to remove the separate Prime listing to avoid customer confusion.
Freevee offerings are accessible through the Prime Video app or via its own dedicated app, and in a Web browser (look for the “Free with ads” label). The service is currently only available within the United States.
The Stargate channel will appear on Freevee alongside dedicated channels to The Pink Panther, Green Acres, and The Outer Limits, along with MGM-branded channels MGM Presents, MGM Presents: Action, and MGM Presents: Sci-Fi. This comes from Amazon’s 2022 acquisition of Metro-Golwyn-Mayer.
Word on a brand new Stargate movie or TV series from Amazon and MGM has yet to be announced, though our sources say that discussions continue over where to take the venerable franchise next, and that Stargate remains a priority. Freevee itself does stream a handful of original series, and we’ve speculated in the past that this could be one potential home for new Stargate.
We’ll keep our eyes open and always keep the “Where To Watch” page up to date here on GateWorld!

This might explain why Stargate has vanished from Sky in the UK. Two channels were showing SG-1, I was about halfway through season 9 on one of those channels when it suddenly vanished from the EPG about two weeks ago.
I don’t have Amazon Prime or any streaming channels so I hope it comes back on Sky at some point!
They are adding free Stargate in the US, but not the rest of the planet, perhaps we should cancel our prime memberships to remind Mr Jeff we provide it’s profits.
I have checked FreeVee several times since this announcement and can’t find Stargate. It’s on Pluto. But not FreeVee as of today.
Well I hope they remove the completely unnecessary and baffling full-frontal from the first SG1 episode. I don’t understand why they added that to a relatively mild show.
