UPDATE: This appears to be another false alarm, with the expiration flag now removed from Atlantis‘ listing on Hulu. (The original story follows.)
Although its sibling shows Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Universe left the streaming service years ago, Stargate Atlantis has remained a mainstay on Hulu in the United States.
But that appears to be coming to an end, meaning Hulu viewers might need to schedule some binge days between now and Halloween. Hulu is listing the show as expiring from the service in just a week — at the end of October 2023.
The best way to make sure you never lose access to the show, of course, is to own it on physical media. Atlantis is available on both Blu-ray and DVD, which also avoids pesky things like episodes trimmed for a TV running time and edited to have hard commercial breaks.
It isn’t the first time the show has been slated for de-listing, only for Hulu to re-up its license at the eleventh hour. So time will tell if the show really does disappear from Hulu on November 1.
Hulu is currently owned by Disney and Comcast, and so the service pays a license to Stargate owner Amazon and MGM.
Stargate Atlantis aired for five seasons and 100 episodes on Syfy Channel in the U.S. A planned follow-up movie, Stargate: Extinction, was never filmed.
