Space station which marks the halfway-point of a traveler's journey through the intergalactic gate bridge. A Stargate from both the Milky Way and Pegasus gate networks occupy either end of the massive center chamber, allowing individuals to step out of one Stargate network, cross a corridor, and re-enter the next – though protocols require a 24-hour quarantine period.

The station was manned by S.G.C. personnel, including scientists Bill Lee and Kavanagh. Security personnel on site were minimal, as the Stargate bridge that accessed the station was believed to be both secret and technologically secure.

A control room sat on an upper level, with a window view down to the Stargates. Here operators on duty could monitor station operations as well as both Stargates, and receive radio communication through an active gate or nearby ship.

The station also included a small number of cramped quarters for visitors and personnel assigned to the station. An airlock on the side of the station permitted access to a docked Puddle Jumper, which was stocked with food and water and able to be used as an escape pod.

Shortly after the station was completed, Wraith managed to access the station and used it to reach Earth. An error on the part of Dr. Kavanagh resulted in the activation of the computer system's self-destruct protocol, which could not be disabled due to Wraith tampering. The Midway Station was destroyed, and the gate bridge link between Atlantis and Earth severed.
