Gonna Go Back In Time …
- First, you’ll need a Stargate

“2010” Facts:
- One inside joke in the episode is the future tour guide’s referring to the Gate Room awkwardly as the “Embarkation Room” — even correcting Sam and Daniel when they try to tell her otherwise. It’s a poke at the early days of the show, when the writers did refer to this part of the base as the “Embarkation Room.”
- Actor Gary Jones‘s technician character went unnamed on the show for four years, though he could occasionally be spotted with a “Davis” name badge. “2010” is the first time that he’s referred to as “Walter” (by Jack in the future) — establishing at least half of his name as canon. (“Harriman” would come later, evidently based on some confusion over how Don S. Davis had been pronouncing “Airman.”)
- The follow-up to this episode — Season Five’s “2001” — did a lot to explain the Aschen’s long-term plans for Earth. The Jupiter Ignition Project would have transformed that planet into a second star for our solar system, vastly increasing the growing season and enabling the Aschen to turn the Earth into a farm planet for their own needs — much like they had done to the planet Volia.
- “2010” showed a possible future where the Stargate program, the existence of aliens, and more had been made public to the entire world. That was a major story point that could have eventually taken place in the show’s own timeline. But the show’s producers always wanted to hold it back for a major film event — and, rumor has it, might have been planning to finally pull the trigger in the un-filmed Stargate: Revolution.
- A possible third episode in an Aschen trilogy was conceived but never written, which would have had the Aschen come to Earth in ships and put our heroes on trial — perhaps with the Asgard serving as judges — for war crimes after the S.G.C. gave them gate addresses to the most dangerous planets in the galaxy (“2001”).
