WHAT IS TO COME

Stargate Atlantis charges into its fifth season with the mythology of the Pegasus Galaxy firmly established, and several story threads firing on all thrusters. Season Five will begin, of course, by wrapping up the cliffhanger from the fourth season finale, in which the team finally has a lead on where Michael will bring Teyla. They infiltrated one of his laboratories, only to find that he hadn’t arrived yet. A booby trap then brought the entire building down on them.

Sheppard and the team must not only escape from the rubble of the building (with a lot of help from their friends), but find and rescue Teyla — who is about to give birth.

This year Teyla must come to terms with how much she can balance motherhood and serving on the team and fighting the Wraith. Ronon will come face-to-face with Tyre, his Satedan friend who tried to deliver the team into the hands of the Wraith. And Rodney’s keen intellect will be challenged like never before, as a disease renders him child-like.

Dr. Keller will continue to find her footing and gain confidence, while Carson Beckett will return from his stasis chamber and try to resume his normal life on Earth and in Atlantis — though he keeps a very personal interest in Michael and his sinister experiments.

The Atlantis expedition gets a new commander this year: Richard Woolsey, the bureaucrat who is long on rules and short on experience. Woolsey’s arrival in the city is sure to cause new conflict and bring complicated relationships with Sheppard and his team.

Look for Todd to continue to play a significant role, as the team continues to find reasons to ally with him for their mutual self-interests. And a new enemy will emerge this season — powerful, technologically advanced, and with a shocking twist.

Season Five premieres Friday, July 11 on SCI FI Channel in the United States, and Tuesday, August 18 on Sky One in the United Kingdom!
