GateWorld Podcast: Atlantis Season Three

Visit the GateWorld Podcast page for more about the show!

The third season of Stargate Atlantis was pivotal for the show: the writers introduced new bad guys, brought back Richard Dean Anderson’s Jack O’Neill, and wrote out two major characters (… though their stories would go on). In this week’s podcast GateWorld’s Darren and David will talk about the highs, lows, and important character developments in Season Three — from “No Man’s Land” to “First Strike,” complete with showdowns, flashbacks, sisters, and fond farewells.

And we’ll hear from you! In an extra-large Listener Mail segment, Stargate fans sound off about women in the franchise, keeping up with the Destiny, the studio’s selling off of Stargate props, and more.

  • Highs in Season 3: some of the show's strongest episodes (Sateda, Common Ground and Phantoms), other great episodes as well (No man's Land, The Return part I, Echoes, Tao of Rodney, Sunday, Submersion and Vengeance), wonderful development regarding the friendships between the main characters, the introduction of Todd.

Lows in Season 3: Lucius, the introduction of the Asurans/Replicators (having a new enemy would've been OK, but not a rehash of SG-1's enemies), Jack O'Neill. IMO, The Return II should've been more about the SGA characters and less about a guest star from SG-1. Nice for the SG-1 fans, bad for those of us who couldn't care less about having SG-1 people on Atlantis. Another season low: the way Carson died.

  • Thanks for the podcast. I enjoyed listening to it!
My absolute favorite episode from this season was Common Ground, loved the way Sheppard and Todd were brought together to form an uneasy alliance. I cringe when I watch Shep being fed upon-he really looks like he's in agony there.
I HATED the way they wrote Kolya off the show, what a waste! He was a terrific villain and could have been brought back many more times as a nemesis for our team.
Season 3 was sad in that it brought an end to some beloved characters, including Carson and Elizabeth, but I did enjoy many of the eps, Phantoms and Echoes being some of the ones I liked the best.
I always wanted to see more fall-out from Shep and Co's decison to steal the jumper and return to Atlantis, but alas, that was not to be.
PS - I don't think I could ever get up the courage to call into your podcast!
